"Danzz"

Tribute to Frances Hare Dance Choreographer

Two images, “Franzz” and “Franzz’z Danzz’z” are the result of a sort of serendipity. While still contemplating which images to prep for this exhibit I decided to take a break and was doodling with some images I had recently taken while attending a dance theatrical presentation, presented by noted choreographer, Frances Hare. Although we are both members of the artist collective, Creative Hue, I had seen her mixed media work but never the real passion of her life, which has to be dance.

The performances of this eclectic group of dancers and dances, ranged from African village dances, classical and street Tango from Argentina, belly dancers, salsa groups and line dances, all of which were impeccably staged for their authenticity. Although I had only quietly shot a few frames from my seat in the theatre there was an undeniable energy that was quite visual and left a latent curiosity leading to, “the doodle.”

After mistakenly rendering an image, I noted that the feeling of these otherwise quite mundane images began to more closely mirror the feelings of a common current I had felt. Putting aside the planned images of the ruins of a rattlesnake infested, cowboy town called, “Two Guns” in Arizona. Creative energy is infectious and can inspire and this tribute to, “Frances Hare Chorography” is a ripple of that reflection.

  1. This is a fascinating image full of movement, but the movement alludes to to a dimension beyond that which is perceived with the eyes. The colors invite the viewer to come closer and look a bit longer. It perhaps makes us contemplate the way we see and how that evokes feeling of familiarity but not on our usual wavelength, compelling us recognize how much we take for granted in the process of "seeing".
